From the first call to a signed plan
The day of the visit
A specialist arrives at the time you agreed, walks around the house, then goes into the crawl space or basement. Expect floor readings with a level, crack widths measured with a gauge, a look at gutters, downspouts and grading, and moisture checks. Most visits take about an hour.
The written sheet
You get a plan that names the cause as best it can be read from the house, the repair, each part by type and count (piers, anchors, feet of drain, square feet of liner), labor, the permit if one is needed, cleanup, and any warranty terms in writing.
What happens by when
The price holds for 30 days. Nothing is owed and no deposit is taken before you approve it. Once you sign, the Kentucky 811 locate request goes in, any permit is filed, and the work is put on the calendar.
The inspection costs nothing, and comparing it with another company's plan is a sensible thing to do. If the problem is a basement taking on water, a wall moving inward, or the ground dropping near the house, say so on the phone so the visit is moved up. Stay out of the space until someone has looked.
